श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । चित्रोनाम महातेजा इन्द्रस्य दयितः पुरा । तस्य पुत्रो नृपश्रेष्ठ पत्त्रेश्वर इति श्रुतः
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | citronāma mahātejā indrasya dayitaḥ purā | tasya putro nṛpaśreṣṭha pattreśvara iti śrutaḥ
श्री मार्कण्डेय म्हणाले— पूर्वी ‘चित्र’ नावाचा एक महातेजस्वी होता, जो इंद्राचा प्रिय होता। हे नृपश्रेष्ठ! त्याचा पुत्र ‘पत्त्रेश्वर’ या नावाने प्रसिद्ध आहे असे ऐकिवात आहे।
