Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse highlights the Shaiva Siddhanta spirit of humility and receptivity: divine knowledge is received through reverent surrender to Pati (Shiva) together with Shakti (the Goddess), after which the seeker speaks and acts with inner strength (puṣṭaḥ).
By bowing to “the God and the Goddess,” the text affirms Saguna worship—approaching Shiva with form and grace (often through the Linga) along with Shakti, emphasizing that devotion and proper approach prepare the aspirant for higher instruction.
A practical takeaway is to begin recitation, japa, or study with praṇāma (salutation) to Shiva and Parvati—then proceed with focused intention; this aligns with Shaiva practice of starting worship with reverence before mantra-japa (such as the Panchakshara).
