शिष्यं शिरसि संताड्य सूत्रं देहे यथाक्रमम् । शांत्यतीतपदे सूत्रं लाञ्छयेन्मंत्रमुच्चरन्

Transliteration

śiṣyaṃ śirasi saṃtāḍya sūtraṃ dehe yathākramam | śāṃtyatītapade sūtraṃ lāñchayenmaṃtramuccaran

Translation

आचार्य शिष्याच्या मस्तकास स्पर्श करून, क्रमाने त्याच्या देहावर यज्ञोपवीत धारण करावा. मंत्रोच्चार करत ‘शांत्यतीत’ या पदावर सूत्रास चिन्हांकित करून दृढ करावे—हे शिवकृपेने बंधनांपलीकडे जाण्याचे द्योतक आहे.
