The Birth of Kumāra/Skanda and the Deposition of Śiva’s Energy through Gaṅgā
भक्तश्च य: कार्तिकेये काकुत्स्थ भुवि मानवः।आयुष्मान् पुत्रपौत्रैश्च स्कन्दसालोक्यतां व्रजेत्।।1.37.32।।
bhaktaś ca yaḥ kārtikeye kākutstha bhuvi mānavaḥ |
āyuṣmān putra-pautraiś ca skanda-sālokyatāṁ vrajet || 1.37.32 ||
हे काकुत्स्थ! या पृथ्वीवर जो मनुष्य कार्तिकेयाचा भक्त आहे, तो दीर्घायुषी होतो, पुत्र-पौत्रांनी संपन्न होतो, आणि देहांती स्कंदलोकातील सालोक्य प्राप्त करतो।
O son of the Kakusthas! whosoever reveres Kartikeya on this earth with devotion and faith, shall have a long life, sons and grandsons and after death will reach the world ofSkanda".ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē bālakāṇḍēṇḍē saptatriṅśassarga:৷৷Thus ends the thirtyseventh sarga of Balakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Dharma is devotion aligned with righteous reverence: faithful honouring of a divine protector is presented as a meritorious path producing social continuity (family) and spiritual attainment.
At the sarga’s close, Viśvāmitra states the spiritual and worldly fruits of devotion to Kārttikeya/Skanda.
Bhakti (devotional fidelity): steadfast reverence is highlighted as a virtue that sustains both personal welfare and spiritual progress.
