आजं वेश्यस्य विज्ञेयं दंडान्वक्ष्ये यथाक्रमम् । पालाशं ब्राह्मणस्योक्तं नृपस्यौदुम्बरं तथा ॥ १८ ॥

ājaṃ veśyasya vijñeyaṃ daṃḍānvakṣye yathākramam | pālāśaṃ brāhmaṇasyoktaṃ nṛpasyaudumbaraṃ tathā || 18 ||

वैश्यासाठी दंड आज-लाकडाचा असावा असे जाणावे. दंडांचा क्रम सांगतो—ब्राह्मणासाठी पलाशाचा दंड म्हटला आहे, आणि राजा (क्षत्रिय) यासाठी उदुंबराचा दंड।
