Graha–Ketu–Utpāta Lakṣaṇas: Solar/Lunar Omens, Comets, Eclipses, and Calendar Rules
adhomukhe śastrabhayaṃ kalaho daṃḍasannibhe | kujādyairnihate śṛṃge maṃḍale vā yathākramam || 26 ||
Sanatkumara (in instruction to Narada, within a technical explanatory passage)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames worldly dangers—violence and conflict—as readable outcomes of observable signs and planetary afflictions, encouraging vigilance, restraint, and dharmic conduct rather than impulsive reaction.
While the verse is technical (omens/astrology), its implied counsel supports Bhakti indirectly: recognizing impending conflict or harm, a devotee should seek refuge in dharma, prayer, and self-control instead of escalating kalaha (discord).
Jyotiṣa (Vedanga astrology) and nimitta-reading are highlighted—especially the idea of planetary affliction (Kuja/Mars and others) impacting specific formations (śṛṅga/maṇḍala) and producing results in an ordered manner (yathākramam).
