Vyākaraṇa-saṅgraha: Pada–Vibhakti–Kāraka–Lakāra–Samāsa
लक्षणेत्थंभूतोऽभिरभागे चानुपरिप्रति । अंतरेषु सहार्थे च हीने ह्युपश्च कथ्यते ॥ ११ ॥
lakṣaṇetthaṃbhūto'bhirabhāge cānupariprati | aṃtareṣu sahārthe ca hīne hyupaśca kathyate || 11 ||
‘उप’ हा शब्द लक्षण (संकेत), इत्थंभूत (असे असणे), ‘अभि’ (जवळ/कडे), आणि भाग (अंश) या अर्थांनी सांगितला आहे; तसेच ‘अनु, परि, प्रति’ या अर्थांनीही. पुढे ‘अंतर’ (मध्ये/आत), ‘सह’ (सोबत), आणि ‘हीन’ (कमी/न्यूनता) या अर्थांनीही ‘उप’चा प्रयोग कथिला आहे.
