The Merit and Ritual Procedure of Donating a Jaggery Cow

Guḍadhenu

अनृतं नाशमायाति गुडधेनो द्विजार्पिता । दीयमानां प्रपश्यन्ति ते यान्ति परमां गतिम् ॥ यत्र क्षोरवहा नद्यः घृतपायसकर्दमाः । ऋषयो मुनयः सिद्धास्तत्र गच्छन्ति धेनुदाः ॥

anṛtaṃ nāśam āyāti guḍadheno dvijārpitā | dīyamānāṃ prapaśyanti te yānti paramāṃ gatim || yatra kṣoravahā nadyaḥ ghṛtapāyasakardamāḥ | ṛṣayo munayaḥ siddhās tatra gacchanti dhenudāḥ ||

ഗുഡധേനു ദ്വിജന്‍ (ബ്രാഹ്മണന്‍) അര്‍പ്പിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അസത്യം നശിക്കുന്നു. ദാനം നല്‍കപ്പെടുന്നതു കാണുന്നവര്‍ പരമഗതി പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു. എവിടെ പാല്നദികള്‍ ഒഴുകുകയും നെയ്യും പായസവും മണ്ണായി കിടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവോ—അവിടെ ഋഷിമുനികളും സിദ്ധന്മാരും പോകുന്നു; ആ ലോകത്തേക്കാണ് ഗോദാതാക്കളും പോകുന്നത്.
