सेवां कर्त्तुं मम स्थाने ब्रूहि केऽत्र समागताः । उवाच स प्रणम्याग्रे दण्डपाणिर्निशाचरः
sevāṃ karttuṃ mama sthāne brūhi ke'tra samāgatāḥ | uvāca sa praṇamyāgre daṇḍapāṇirniśācaraḥ
“എന്റെ സഭയിൽ സേവ ചെയ്യാൻ ഇവിടെ ആരൊക്കെയാണ് സമാഗമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്? പറയുക.” എന്ന് രാവണൻ ചോദിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ നിശാചരനായ ദണ്ഡപാണി മുന്നിൽ നമസ്കരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
