अश्वत्थफलनिर्यासपानात्प्राणा मया धृताः । गौणं तदा तया तस्य पिप्पलादेति कल्पि तम्
aśvatthaphalaniryāsapānātprāṇā mayā dhṛtāḥ | gauṇaṃ tadā tayā tasya pippalādeti kalpi tam
അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു: “അശ്വത്ഥ (പിപ്പല) ഫലത്തിന്റെ നീർ കുടിച്ചാണ് ഞാൻ പ്രാണനെ നിലനിർത്തിയത്.” അതിനാൽ അപ്പോൾ അമ്മ അവന് ഗൗണനാമമായി ‘പിപ്പലാദ’ എന്നു നല്കി.
