नगरं विलोकयामास रम्यं प्राकारमण्डितम् । ऋषयस्तुष्टुवुः सर्वे तत्रस्थं त्रिपुरान्तकम् । तानुवाच महादेवो वृणुध्वं वरमुत्त मम्
nagaraṃ vilokayāmāsa ramyaṃ prākāramaṇḍitam | ṛṣayastuṣṭuvuḥ sarve tatrasthaṃ tripurāntakam | tānuvāca mahādevo vṛṇudhvaṃ varamutta mam
അവൻ പ്രാകാരങ്ങളാൽ അലങ്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ട മനോഹര നഗരത്തെ ദർശിച്ചു. അവിടെ നിലകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ത്രിപുരാന്തകനെ എല്ലാ ഋഷികളും സ്തുതിച്ചു; അപ്പോൾ മഹാദേവൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഉത്തമമായ വരം തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുവിൻ.”
