सा गृहीत्वा सती भर्तुर्भस्म सर्वं चितेस्तथा । प्रविष्टा सागरं देवि तदा जांबवती शुभा
sā gṛhītvā satī bharturbhasma sarvaṃ citestathā | praviṣṭā sāgaraṃ devi tadā jāṃbavatī śubhā
ഹേ ദേവി! ആ സതി ഭർത്താവിന്റെയും ചിതയുടെയും മുഴുവൻ ഭസ്മവും എടുത്ത് സമുദ്രത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചു; അപ്പോൾ അവൾ ശുഭയായ ജാംബവതി (നദി)യായി മാറി.
