ब्रह्मविष्ण्वर्करुद्राणां माहात्म्यं भुवनस्य च । संहारश्च प्रदृश्येत पुराणं पञ्चलक्षणम्
brahmaviṣṇvarkarudrāṇāṃ māhātmyaṃ bhuvanasya ca | saṃhāraśca pradṛśyeta purāṇaṃ pañcalakṣaṇam
അതിൽ ബ്രഹ്മാ, വിഷ്ണു, അർക (സൂര്യൻ) 그리고 രുദ്രൻ എന്നിവരുടെ മഹാത്മ്യവും, ഭുവനങ്ങളുടെ സ്വഭാവവും അവയുടെ സംഹാരവും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു—അതുകൊണ്ട് പുരാണം പഞ്ചലക്ഷണമെന്നു അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു।
