ईश्वर उवाच अथ मेरोर्महादेवि अष्टशृंगस्य सुव्रते । पूजाविधानमंत्रांस्ते कथयामि समासतः
īśvara uvāca atha merormahādevi aṣṭaśṛṃgasya suvrate | pūjāvidhānamaṃtrāṃste kathayāmi samāsataḥ
ഈശ്വരൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു—ഹേ മഹാദേവീ, ഹേ സുവ്രതേ! ഇനി ഞാൻ മേരുവിന്റെ അഷ്ടശൃംഗ (എട്ട് ശിഖര) രൂപത്തിന്റെ പൂജാവിധിയും മന്ത്രങ്ങളും നിനക്കു സംക്ഷേപമായി പറയുന്നു।
