गोलकं पतितं दृष्ट्वा क्रन्दंतं ब्राह्मणं तथा । कूर्मपृष्ठं च भगवान्विष्णुर्हन्तुं मनो दधे । नाराचेन सुतीक्ष्णेन जघान हृदये रिपुम्
golakaṃ patitaṃ dṛṣṭvā krandaṃtaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ tathā | kūrmapṛṣṭhaṃ ca bhagavānviṣṇurhantuṃ mano dadhe | nārācena sutīkṣṇena jaghāna hṛdaye ripum
ഗോലകൻ വീണുകിടക്കുന്നതും ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ കരയുന്നതും കണ്ട് ഭഗവാൻ വിഷ്ണു കൂർമ്മപൃഷ്ഠനെ വധിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. അതികൂർമ്മയുള്ള നാരാചം എന്ന അസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹം ശത്രുവിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പ്രഹരിച്ചു.
