पितामहमुखान्दृष्ट्वा देवान्प्राप्तान्सुराधिपः । पराङ्मुखानकस्माच्च संजातान्विस्मयान्वितः । ततः प्रोवाच संभ्रांतः किमिदं गम्यते सुराः । दृष्ट्वापि मामनाभाष्य कच्चित्क्षेमं गृहे मम
pitāmahamukhāndṛṣṭvā devānprāptānsurādhipaḥ | parāṅmukhānakasmācca saṃjātānvismayānvitaḥ | tataḥ provāca saṃbhrāṃtaḥ kimidaṃ gamyate surāḥ | dṛṣṭvāpi māmanābhāṣya kaccitkṣemaṃ gṛhe mama
പിതാമഹനായ ബ്രഹ്മ മുൻപിൽ നിൽക്കെ എത്തിയ ദേവന്മാരെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ദേവാധിപൻ ഇന്ദ്രൻ അതിശയിച്ചു; അവർ അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി മുഖം തിരിച്ചു മാറിനിന്നു. അപ്പോൾ അവൻ ആശങ്കയോടെ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ ദേവന്മാരേ, ഇതെന്ത്? എന്തിന് പോകുന്നു? എന്നെ കണ്ടിട്ടും സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ല; എന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ എല്ലാം ക്ഷേമമാണോ?”
