सुरां पीत्वा द्विजं हत्वा द्विजानां निष्कृतिः स्मृता । धेनुविक्रयकर्तॄणां प्रायश्चित्तं न विद्यते
surāṃ pītvā dvijaṃ hatvā dvijānāṃ niṣkṛtiḥ smṛtā | dhenuvikrayakartṝṇāṃ prāyaścittaṃ na vidyate
ദ്വിജർക്കു സുരാപാനം ചെയ്താലും ദ്വിജഹത്യ ചെയ്താലും സ്മൃതികളിൽ പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ പശുവിൽപ്പന ചെയ്യുന്നവർക്ക് പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ഇല്ലെന്ന് പറയുന്നു।
