भेदास्त्रयः समाख्याता विज्ञेयाः स्मृतिनिर्णयात् । शिल्पिनः सप्त विज्ञेया उत्तमाः समुदाहृताः
bhedāstrayaḥ samākhyātā vijñeyāḥ smṛtinirṇayāt | śilpinaḥ sapta vijñeyā uttamāḥ samudāhṛtāḥ
സ്മൃതികളുടെ നിർണ്ണയപ്രകാരം മൂന്നു ഭേദങ്ങൾ പ്രസ്താവിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവ അറിയേണ്ടതാണ്. അവയിൽ ഏഴുവിധ ശില്പികൾ ഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടണം; അവർ ‘ഉത്തമർ’ എന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
