मृकण्ड उवाच । कस्मात्त्वं विप्रशार्दूल वीक्ष्येमं मम दारकम् । सुचिरं विस्मयाविष्टस्ततोऽभूः सस्मिताननः
mṛkaṇḍa uvāca | kasmāttvaṃ vipraśārdūla vīkṣyemaṃ mama dārakam | suciraṃ vismayāviṣṭastato'bhūḥ sasmitānanaḥ
മൃകണ്ഡു പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ വിപ്രശാർദൂലാ! എന്റെ ഈ ബാലനെ കണ്ടിട്ട് നീ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് ദീർഘനേരം വിസ്മയാവിഷ്ടനായി നിന്നു, പിന്നെ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് സ്മിതമുഖനായിത്തീർന്നു?
