tataḥ saṃprasthitaṃ rāmaṃ dṛṣṭvā provāca lakṣmaṇaḥ | kuru me nigrahaṃ tāvadgaccha tīrthaṃ tataḥ prabho
Lakṣmaṇa
Tirtha: Unnamed tīrtha (the same Brahmā/Pitāmaha-associated ford)
Type: ghat
Listener: Audience of the Purāṇa (implicit); within story Lakṣmaṇa speaks to Rāma
Scene: Rāma begins to set out; Lakṣmaṇa, moved and earnest, speaks—asking to be restrained/held back for a moment—then urges Rāma to proceed to the tīrtha.
Pilgrimage and purification are to be paired with mastery over impulse and disciplined conduct.
The same tīrtha under discussion in this adhyāya; the verse points toward going there for the prescribed act.
Proceeding to the tīrtha for the intended rite (snāna described in surrounding verses).
