चलितापि पुनश्चास्याः सुपत्न्या वाक्यतः स्थिता । कियंतं चैव कालं मे कार्पण्यं महदास्थितम्
calitāpi punaścāsyāḥ supatnyā vākyataḥ sthitā | kiyaṃtaṃ caiva kālaṃ me kārpaṇyaṃ mahadāsthitam
അവൾ (ലക്ഷ്മി) വീണ്ടും പോകാൻ ഒരുങ്ങിയെങ്കിലും, ആ സദ്ഗുണവതിയായ സഹപത്നിയുടെ വാക്കുകൾ കൊണ്ട് നിലച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ അവൻ മനസ്സിൽ—“എത്രകാലമായി എനിക്ക് ഈ മഹാദാരിദ്ര്യവും ദീനതയും പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു?” എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.
