ke dārayāmi yatproktaṃ tvayā mahiṣarūpiṇā | kedāra iti nāmnā tvaṃ tataḥ khyāto bhaviṣyasi
Indra (continuing his declaration)
Tirtha: Kedāra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śiva
Scene: Indra speaks before Śiva who is associated with a buffalo-form episode; the landscape hints at a sacred pasture/field (kedāra) with a spring; a subtle buffalo iconography appears in banners or relief.
Sacred names preserve sacred deeds; a tīrtha’s very name becomes a memorial of divine action and faithful commitment.
Kedāra—presented here as a Śaiva sacred place whose fame is established through this naming.
No direct rite; the verse provides the naming/renown (khyāti) foundation for Kedāra’s later worship and pilgrimage merit.
