इत्थं विलप्य बहुशो नयनांबुधारासंपातजात तटिनी शतमुत्तरंगम् । सा तोकशोकजनितानल तापतप्ता प्रोच्छ्वस्यदीर्घविपुलोष्णमहो शुशोष
itthaṃ vilapya bahuśo nayanāṃbudhārāsaṃpātajāta taṭinī śatamuttaraṃgam | sā tokaśokajanitānala tāpataptā procchvasyadīrghavipuloṣṇamaho śuśoṣa
ഇങ്ങനെ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും വിലപിച്ച് അവളുടെ കണ്ണീർധാരകൾ ഒഴുകി; പൊങ്ങുന്ന തരംഗങ്ങളോടെ നൂറുകണക്കിന് നദികളുപോലെ ആയി. കുഞ്ഞുശോകജന്യ അഗ്നിതാപത്തിൽ ദഗ്ധയായി അവൾ ദീർഘവും ഭാരവുമായ കത്തുന്ന നിശ്വാസങ്ങൾ വിട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു—അയ്യോ, ഒടുവിൽ വാടിയും ഉണങ്ങിയും പോയി.
