देव्युवाच । नाहं ते दयिता देव नाहं ते वशवर्तिनी । अकृत्वाधश्व वै तासां मानं सुरसुपूजितम्
devyuvāca | nāhaṃ te dayitā deva nāhaṃ te vaśavartinī | akṛtvādhaśva vai tāsāṃ mānaṃ surasupūjitam
ദേവി പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ ദേവാ, ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പ്രിയയല്ല; ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അധീനയുമല്ല; ദേവന്മാരും പൂജിക്കുന്ന അവരുടെ മാനത്തെ നീ ആദ്യം താഴ്ത്തിയില്ലെങ്കിൽ അല്ല।
