सर्वसत्त्वोपकाराय बृहते पुण्यलक्षणा । रेवानदी तु विख्याता न मृता तेन नर्मदा
sarvasattvopakārāya bṛhate puṇyalakṣaṇā | revānadī tu vikhyātā na mṛtā tena narmadā
സകല ജീവികളുടെ ഉപകാരത്തിനായി മഹത്തായ പുണ്യലക്ഷണയുള്ള ഈ നദി ‘രേവാ’ എന്ന പേരിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. അവൾ ‘മരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല’—അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് അവൾ നർമദാ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്.
