श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । अतः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि प्रजासंहारलक्षणम् । यच्चिह्नं दृश्यते तत्र यथा कल्पो विधीयते
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | ataḥ paraṃ pravakṣyāmi prajāsaṃhāralakṣaṇam | yaccihnaṃ dṛśyate tatra yathā kalpo vidhīyate
ശ്രീ മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇനി ഞാൻ പ്രജാസംഹാരത്തിന്റെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു; അപ്പോൾ ഏതു ചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ ദൃശ്യമാകുന്നു, കല്പചക്രം എങ്ങനെ ക്രമമായി പ്രവഹിച്ച് വിധിപൂർവ്വം ക്രമീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നും പറയുന്നു।
