एतच्छ्रुत्वा तु सा देवी निगमं नैगमैः कृतम् । क्रोधेन महताविष्टा शशाप द्विजपुंगवान्
etacchrutvā tu sā devī nigamaṃ naigamaiḥ kṛtam | krodhena mahatāviṣṭā śaśāpa dvijapuṃgavān
ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ—പണ്ഡിതർ നിർമ്മിച്ച ആ ‘നിഗമ’വിധി—ആ ദേവി മഹാക്രോധത്തിൽ ആവിഷ്ടയായി ശ്രേഷ്ഠ ദ്വിജന്മാരെ ശപിച്ചു।
