tataḥ śaśāpa devendraṃ gautamaḥ krodhamūrchitaḥ | ajitendriyo'si yasmāttvaṃ tasmādbahubhago bhava
Gautama Ṛṣi
Tirtha: Revā region (contextual)
Type: kshetra
Listener: “Bhārata”
Scene: Gautama, eyes blazing with anger, pronounces a curse upon Indra; the air seems to ripple with ascetic fire as the words ‘bahubhaga’ land like a decree.
Self-mastery (indriya-jaya) is central to dharma; uncontrolled senses lead to disgrace and karmic retribution.
No specific tīrtha is praised in this verse.
No ritual is prescribed; the ethical prescription is indriya-nigraha (restraint of the senses).
