पाद्मं च पञ्चपञ्चाशत्सहस्राणि निगद्यते । तृतीयं वैष्णवंनाम त्रयोविंशतिसंख्यया

pādmaṃ ca pañcapañcāśatsahasrāṇi nigadyate | tṛtīyaṃ vaiṣṇavaṃnāma trayoviṃśatisaṃkhyayā

പാദ്മ പുരാണം അമ്പത്തയ്യായിരം ശ്ലോകങ്ങളുള്ളതെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. മൂന്നാമത് ‘വൈഷ്ണവ’ നാമമുള്ള പുരാണം; അതിന്റെ എണ്ണം ഇരുപത്തിമൂന്നായിരം (ശ്ലോകങ്ങൾ).
