अग्रे सिन्धूनां पवमानो अर्षत्यग्रे वाचो अग्रियो गोषु गच्छति । अग्रे वाजस्य भजते महाधनं स्वायुधः सोतृभिः पूयते वृषा ॥

ágre síndhūnāṃ pávamāno arṣaty ágre vā́co agriyó góṣu gacchati | ágre vā́jasya bhajate mahā-dhánam svā́yudhaḥ sotṛ́bhiḥ pū́yate vṛ́ṣā ||

സിന്ധുക്കളായ നദികളിൽ അഗ്രസ്ഥാനത്ത് പവമാനൻ (സോമൻ) പാഞ്ഞുചെല്ലുന്നു; വാക്കിലും അഗ്രസ്ഥാനത്ത്—കിരണങ്ങളിലോ ഗോങ്ങളിലോ അഗ്രണിയായി സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു. അഗ്രസ്ഥാനത്ത് തന്നേ അവൻ ബലത്തിന്റെ പൂർണ്ണതയും മഹാധനവും നേടുന്നു; സ്വയം-ആയുധധാരിയായ ആ വൃഷഭസമൻ ബലവാൻ സോതൃഭിഃ (രസം പിഴിയുന്നവർ) മുഖേന ശുദ്ധനാകുന്നു.
