यो होतासीत्प्रथमो देवजुष्टो यं समाञ्जन्नाज्येना वृणानाः । स पतत्रीत्वरं स्था जगद्यच्छ्वात्रमग्निरकृणोज्जातवेदाः ॥
yo hotāsīt prathamo devajuṣṭo yaṃ samāñjann ājyena vṛṇānāḥ | sa patatrī tv araṃ sthā jagad yac chvātram agnir akṛṇoj jātavedāḥ ||
ആദ്യ ഹോതാവായവൻ—ദേവന്മാർക്ക് പ്രിയൻ—അവനെ അവർ ഘൃതംകൊണ്ട് അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്ത് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; അവൻ ചിറകുള്ള ചലനശീലൻ, കര്മ്മത്തിനായി അതിവേഗൻ ആയി നിലകൊണ്ടു. ജാതവേദ അഗ്നി ലോകത്തെ ദീപ്തമായ യാത്രയ്ക്ക് യോജ്യമായ വാസസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയപ്പോൾ.
