War-Council Boasts and Stratagems
अब्रवीच्चसुसङ्कृद्धोदुर्मुखोनामराक्षसः ।इदंनक्षमणीयंहिसर्वेषांनःप्रधर्षणम् ।।6.8.6।।
abravīc ca susaṅkṛddho durmukho nāma rākṣasaḥ |
idaṃ na kṣamaṇīyaṃ hi sarveṣāṃ naḥ pradharṣaṇam ||6.8.6||
അപ്പോൾ അത്യന്തം ക്രുദ്ധനായ ദുർമുഖൻ എന്ന രാക്ഷസൻ പറഞ്ഞു: “നമ്മളെല്ലാവർക്കുമേറ്റ ഈ അപമാനം ക്ഷമിക്കാനാവില്ല.”
"O night ranger (Ravana)! I will arrange the protection (of this Lanka) from these Vanaras. For your own wrong action (of abducting Sita) you cannot undergo suffering."
It warns that obsession with wounded pride can eclipse righteous discernment. Dharma prioritizes justice and right action over retaliating merely to erase shame.
Durmukha reacts to Hanumān’s successful assault on Laṅkā, framing it as an unforgivable collective disgrace.
