भ्रातरंनिहतंदृष्टवारावणेनदुरात्मना ।विष्टनन्तंतुदुःखार्तंमर्मण्यभिहतंभृशम् ।।।।

bhrātaraṃ nihataṃ dṛṣṭvā rāvaṇena durātmanā |

viṣṭanantaṃ tu duḥkhārtaṃ marmaṇy abhihataṃ bhṛśam ||

ദുഷ്ടബുദ്ധിയായ രാവണൻ വധിച്ച സഹോദരനെ കണ്ടു, മർമ്മസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ അത്യന്തം മുറിവേറ്റു ദുഃഖത്തിൽ പുളഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നവനെ നോക്കി (രാമൻ) അത്യന്തം വ്യാകുലനായി.
