The Token of Recognition (Chūḍāmaṇi) and the Crow Episode Recalled
मणिरत्नं कपिवरः प्रतिगृह्याभिवाद्य च।सीतां प्रदक्षिणं कृत्वा प्रणतः पार्व्शतः स्थितः।।5.38.71।।
maṇi-ratnaṃ kapivaraḥ pratigṛhyābhivādya ca |
sītāṃ pradakṣiṇaṃ kṛtvā praṇataḥ pārśvataḥ sthitaḥ ||5.38.71||
കപിശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ ഹനുമാൻ മണിരത്നം സ്വീകരിച്ച് സീതയെ വന്ദിച്ചു; പിന്നെ ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം അവളെ പ്രദക്ഷിണം ചെയ്ത് വിനീതനായി അവളുടെ പക്കൽ നിന്നു.
Having received the most precious jewel from the daughter of Janaka, Hanuman prepared to return like a mountain released from the impact of the wind.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē sundarakāṇḍē aṣṭatriṅśassargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the thirtyeighth sarga of Sundarakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Maryādā (right conduct) as Dharma: Hanuman honors Sita with formal reverence, showing that devotion expresses itself through respectful behavior.
Hanuman completes the receiving of the token with salutations and ritual respect before preparing to depart.
