Virāṭa Rescued from Suśarmā; Night Battle and Royal Gratitude (विराटमोक्षणं सुशर्मवधाभिमुखं च)
अन्योन्यं चापि संरब्धौ विचेरतुरमर्षणौ । कृतास्त्रौ निशितैर्बाणैरसिशक्तिगदा भूती,दोनोंका एक दूसरेके प्रति क्रोध और अमर्ष बढ़ा हुआ था। दोनों ही अस्त्रविद्यामें निपुण थे और दोनोंने ही तलवार, शक्ति तथा गदा भी ले रखी थी। उस समय दोनों तीखे बाणोंसे परस्पर प्रहार करते हुए रणभूमिमें विचरने लगे
anyonyam cāpi saṃrabdhau viceratur amarṣaṇau | kṛtāstrau niśitair bāṇair asiśaktigadābhṛtau ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു— പരസ്പരത്തോടുള്ള അവരുടെ ക്രോധവും അമർഷവും കൂടുതൽ കത്തിപ്പടർന്നു. ആയുധവിദ്യയിൽ നിപുണരായ അവർ വാൾ, ശക്തി (ജാവലിൻ) എന്നിവയും ഗദയും ധരിച്ച്, മൂർച്ചയുള്ള അമ്പുകളാൽ പരസ്പരം പ്രഹരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ ചുറ്റി നടന്നു.
