Virāṭa Rescued from Suśarmā; Night Battle and Royal Gratitude (विराटमोक्षणं सुशर्मवधाभिमुखं च)
न शेकुरभिसंरब्धा: शूरान् कर्तु पराड्मुखान् । घुड़सवार घुड़सवारोंसे और गजारोही गजारोहियोंसे लड़ रहे थे। राजन! वे सब क्रोधमें भरकर उस युद्धमें एक-दूसरेपर तलवार, पट्टिश, प्रास, शक्ति और तोमर आदि अस्त्र- शस्त्रोंसे प्रहार कर रहे थे; किंतु परिघके समान प्रचण्ड भुजदण्डवाले वे शूरवीर परस्पर क्रोधपूर्वक प्रहार करनेपर भी सामना करनेवाले वीरोंको पीछे नहीं हटा पाते थे ।। १०-११ *॥ कृत्तोत्तरोष्ठं सुनसं कृत्तकेशमलंकृतम्

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—കോപാവേശം നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നിട്ടും അവർ ശൂരന്മാരെ പിൻതിരിയിപ്പിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ നിബിഡതയിൽ ആവർത്തിച്ച പ്രഹാരങ്ങളും ഉറച്ചു നിന്നവരുടെ ധൈര്യം തകർക്കാനായില്ല; ധൈര്യം ധൈര്യത്തെ നേരിട്ടു, ആരും പിന്മാറിയില്ല.
