FAQs

It prescribes a protective arrangement for the yajña-space: stationed guardians (or protective presences) at every entrance (pratitoraṇam) to remove vighnas (ritual impediments) and preserve the integrity of the kratu.

Alongside theology, the Agni Purana catalogs practical ritual engineering—how to secure the sacrificial hall, manage entrances, and ritually prevent disruptions—showing its procedural, manual-like coverage of worship and rites.

Ensuring the sacrifice is free from vighnas is treated as essential for the rite’s efficacy: protecting the kratu preserves its intended merit (puṇya) and prevents ritual fault (doṣa) that could diminish spiritual results.
