It gives a mantra-charged oil preparation and its ritual deployment: powdering a substance into oil for anointing, reciting coercive mantra-phrases with bīja-syllables, performing a counted worship (arka-śata), and depositing the charged item in a cremation ground—an abhicāra-style procedure.
Alongside dharma and mythology, the Agni Purāṇa preserves applied manuals—here blending quasi-medical terminology (kuṣṭha) with tantric operational steps (bīja-mantras, counted offerings, śmaśāna placement), showing the text’s wide scope across ritual technology and remedial/afflictive practices.
Because it employs coercive verbs (sādhaya, māraya) and śmaśāna praxis, it is categorized as a forceful rite; traditional dharma frameworks treat such acts as spiritually risky, potentially generating heavy karmic consequences unless constrained by strict vows, authorization, and a context claimed as protective necessity.
