taistatra sthāpitaṃ liṅgaṃ devadevasya śūlinaḥ | tasya saṃdarśanādeva naraḥ pāpādvimucyate

Scene: Brāhmaṇas perform liṅga-pratiṣṭhā: a black stone liṅga adorned with bilva leaves and garlands, abhiṣeka vessels, lamps; pilgrims approach and are shown shedding darkness (sins) through darśana.
Śiva-darśana at a consecrated liṅga is portrayed as a direct purifier that destroys sin.
The tīrtha where the sages installed the liṅga in Nāgarakhaṇḍa, Tīrthamāhātmya (Adhyāya 32).
Liṅga-sthāpanā is narrated, and darśana (devotional beholding) is presented as efficacious.
