अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
दशनामसहस््राणि देवेष्वाह पितामह: । शर्वस्य शास्त्रेषु तथा दशनामशतानि च,पितामह ब्रह्माने पूर्वकालमें देवताओंके निकट महादेवजीके दस हजार नाम बताये थे और शास््त्रोंमें भी उनके सहस्र नाम वर्णित हैं
daśanāmasahasrāṇi deveṣv āha pitāmahaḥ | śarvasya śāstreṣu tathā daśanāmaśatāni ca ||
ວາຍຸກ່າວວ່າ: “ໃນການກ່ອນ, ປິຕາມະຫະ (ພຣະພຣົມ) ໄດ້ປະກາດແກ່ເທວະດາທັງຫຼາຍ ນາມສິບພັນຂອງສະຣະວະ (ພຣະສິວະ). ແລະໃນຄຳພີກໍບັນທຶກນາມຂອງພຣະອົງໄວ້ອີກຫຼາຍຮ້ອຍ.” ຄຳກ່າວນີ້ຊີ້ວ່າ ຜູ້ຄົນເຂົ້າໃກ້ທິບະພາບໄດ້ຜ່ານນາມຫຼາຍປະການ ແລະການລະລຶກນາມ (nāma) ດ້ວຍຄວາມນົບນ້ອມ ແມ່ນເສັ້ນທາງແຫ່ງພຣະພັກດີທີ່ມີຫຼັກຖານໃນປະເພນີ.
