Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the dharmic impulse of gratitude and care within recognized kinship: elders and protectors respond with affection and generosity when they see a worthy descendant, and honor is expressed through service and gifts.

Āryaka recognizes Bhīma as his descendant (dauhitradauhitra) and embraces him tightly. Vāsuki, the famed serpent-king, is also delighted with Bhīma and proposes honoring him by asking what pleasing act should be done, including offering wealth, gold, and jewels.
