स्वयंजात: प्रणीतश्न तत्सम: पुत्रिकासुत: । पौनर्भवश्ल कानीन: भगिन्यां यश्ष॒ जायते

svayaṃjātaḥ praṇītaś ca tat-samaḥ putrikā-sutaḥ | paunarbhavaś ca kānīno bhaginyāṃ yaś ca jāyate ||

ໄວສັມປາຍະນະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ລູກຊາຍທີ່ຊາຍຜູ້ໜຶ່ງໃຫ້ກຳເນີດດ້ວຍຕົນເອງກັບພັນລະຍາທີ່ແຕ່ງງານຖືກຕ້ອງ ເອີ້ນວ່າ ‘Svayaṃjāta’. ຜູ້ທີ່ເອີ້ນວ່າ ‘Praṇīta’ ແມ່ນລູກທີ່ເກີດໃນຄັນຂອງພັນລະຍາຕົນ ໂດຍອາໄສການແຕ່ງຕັ້ງ ຫຼືຄຸນອຸປະຖຳຂອງຊາຍຜູ້ຄວນຄ່າ. ລູກຊາຍຂອງລູກສາວ (putrikā-suta) ກໍຖືກນັບວ່າເທົ່າກັນ (ກັບລູກຂອງຕົນ). ລູກທີ່ເກີດຈາກຍິງທີ່ແຕ່ງງານໃໝ່ ເອີ້ນວ່າ ‘Paunarbhava’. ລູກທີ່ເອີ້ນວ່າ ‘Kānīna’ ແມ່ນລູກທີ່ເກີດຈາກສາວພຣົມຈັນ (ຕາມຂໍ້ຕົກລົງວ່າລູກນັ້ນຈະນັບເປັນລູກຂອງຜູ້ມອບນາງ). ແລະລູກຊາຍທີ່ເກີດຈາກນ້ອງສາວຂອງຕົນ (ຄື ຫຼານຊາຍ) ກໍຖືກນັບຢູ່ໃນຈຳພວກນີ້ດ້ວຍ».
