तस्य दास्यं सदा कुर्यात् प्रज्ञया परया सह । शुभं वाऽशुभमन्यद्वा यदुक्तं गुरुणा भुवि ॥

IAST Transliteration

tasya dāsyaṃ sadā kuryāt prajñayā parayā saha | śubhaṃ vā'śubham anyad vā yad uktaṃ guruṇā bhuvi ||

Translation

ಅವನಿಗೆ (ಆ ಗುರುಗೆ) ಪರಮ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸದಾ ದಾಸ್ಯಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರು ಹೇಳುವುದೇನು—ಶುಭವಾಗಲಿ ಅಶುಭವಾಗಲಿ, ಅಥವಾ ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವುದಾಗಲಿ—

Academic Translation

One should always render service to him (that teacher), together with the highest understanding. Whether auspicious or inauspicious, or anything else that is spoken by the guru on earth—
