ಕೆಲವರು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ದಿನಗಳ ನಂತರ ಮಾತ್ರ ಭೋಜನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು; ಕೆಲವರು ಅರ್ಧಮಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಒಮ್ಮೆ. ಕೆಲವರು ಪ್ರತಿದರ್ಶದಲ್ಲಿ (ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ) ಭೋಜನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು; ಮತ್ತ ಕೆಲವರು ಶೈವಾಲಾದಿ ಜಲಸಸ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು।
