Kṛṣṇādi-Śivabhaktoddhāraṇa & Śiva-māhātmya-varṇana
Deliverance of Krishna and other devotees; Description of Shiva’s Greatness
pārvatyāśca mukhaṃ dṛṣṭvā bhagavānbhaktavatsalaḥ | uvāca keśavaṃ tuṣṭo rudraścātha biḍaujasā
Lord Shiva (Rudra)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It highlights Śiva as bhaktavatsala—His grace is stirred by devotion and purity (here symbolized through Pārvatī), and that grace becomes the cause for divine instruction that uplifts beings toward liberation.
By portraying Rudra as personally pleased and responsive, the verse supports Saguna worship—approaching Śiva with love and reverence (as in Liṅga-pūjā) invites His compassionate attention and teachings.
The takeaway is bhakti-based upāsanā: worship Śiva with a devoted mind—commonly expressed in Shiva Purana practice through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and respectful pūjā of the Śiva-liṅga.
