षोडशार्णो युवा प्रौढश्चत्वारिंशतिवर्णकः । त्रिंशद्वर्णश्चतुःषष्टिवर्णश्चापि शताक्षरः ॥ ४० ॥

ಹದಿನಾರು ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳ ಮಂತ್ರವನ್ನು ‘ಯುವ’ ಎಂದು, ನಲವತ್ತು ವರ್ಣಗಳ ಮಂತ್ರವನ್ನು ‘ಪ್ರೌಢ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮுப்பತ್ತು ವರ್ಣಗಳ, ಅರವತ್ತ್ನಾಲ್ಕು ವರ್ಣಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ನೂರು ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳ ಮಂತ್ರಗಳೂ ಇವೆ।
