Khāṇḍikya
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta (peace)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
It establishes the proper disciple-attitude: recognizing a qualified teacher (yogavid-uttama) and requesting Yoga as a direct means toward mokṣa, grounded in the understood essence of the Yoga-śāstras.
While Bhakti is not explicitly named here, the verse models surrender and reverence to a realized guide—an essential devotional mood that supports later instruction on disciplined practice and God-oriented liberation.
The emphasis is on śāstra-artha (grasping the meaning of authoritative texts), a practical hermeneutic skill aligned with disciplined study (śāstra-vicāra); no specific Vedāṅga like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa is directly referenced in this verse.
