तद्दोयतां द्विजसुतौ यदि वां प्रणयो मयि ।

एतावता अहं दैवेन वञ्चितोऽस्मि दुरात्मना ॥

tad doyatāṃ dvija-sutau yadi vāṃ praṇayo mayi |

etāvatāhaṃ daivena vañcito 'smi durātmanā ||

Translation

‘ಹೇ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣಪುತ್ರರೇ, ನಿಮಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಸ्नेಹವಿದ್ದರೆ ಅದನ್ನೇ ಕೊಡಿ. ನಾನು ಇಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲೇ ದೈವ—ಆ ನಿರ್ದಯ ಶಕ್ತಿ—ಇದರಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.’
