Sūta
Tirtha: Candrāṅka-tīrtha (contextual)
Type: tirtha
Scene: Sūta narrates the passage of days; the scene shifts to a calendar-like depiction of Caitra’s dark fortnight arriving, the Moon positioned in Citrā, and the fourteenth tithi dawning—setting the stage for the bath.
Sacred rites are anchored in sacred time; the Purāṇa marks the exact lunar conditions for maximizing tīrtha merit.
The narrative is moving toward the pilgrimage bath at Śaṅkha-tīrtha described in the subsequent verse.
It establishes the calendrical moment—Caitra, caturdaśī, Moon in Citrā—when the prescribed bath is to be performed.
