Tirtha: Kāśī-kṣetra (general vrata context)
Type: kshetra
Scene: A dvija-pilgrim with a begging bowl receives a small portion of havis from householders; later he sits in meditation near a shrine, indicating the transition from limited food to fasting.
Purification is cultivated through simplicity, restraint, and humility (begging/limited food) within a timed discipline.
The regimen is taught in the Kāśī Khaṇḍa setting, where such disciplined living is aligned with Kāśī’s purifying ethos.
Eat havis morning and evening; for three days take begged havis only; then observe a further three days with fasting.
